The following video is a pretty basic one but it is one that yet again reiterates just how harmful smoking cigarettes can be and why it is a great idea to pursue quitting if you area smoker yourself. The video focuses on Dr. Joshua Fink, M.D. who outlines the negative effects of regularly smoking cigarettes for us. Again, it’s a pretty basic video but it also does a good job of projecting some of the major health concerns as far as regular tobacco use goes such as an added risk for heart attack, tar filled lungs, a greater risk for lung sicknesses such as bronchitis, and discoloration of the skin.

Overall, this is a quality video but that’s not to say I don’t have a few issues with it. The thing is, whenever you are presented with anti-smoking information such as the following video (even if smoking is generally deemed bad for the health it still is anti-smoking), the information presents the negatives with aligned with heavier tobacco use. Smoking a pack of cigarettes is obviously going to wreck havoc on your lungs and body in general. But, if you are a smoker who is smokes cigarettes in moderation (less than 5 or so cigarettes a day) then you probably won’t experience the negatives to the same extent. Another thing to keep in mind is that it is mainly the added chemicals in cigarettes and heavy use that make them extremely dangerous in the lung run and leave smokers prone to cancer. I’ll be covering these topics more in depth in later post(s) but keep them in mind when watching the video.

Lastly, take what I said above with a grain of salt. I’m no medical expert and this is merely what I have concluded based on my own research. I’ll also be exploring these topics more in depth and explaining why I believe what I believe at a later time. And yes, this is a stop smoking related website! My goal is not to get you to start smoking cigarettes but rather to give an unbiased view on smoking and to help you quit if you so choose to do so.

Considering the fact that nicotine is a highly addictive drug up there with the likes of cocaine in heroine in terms of its addictiveness and ability to bring the user back to regular use, it’s no surprise that many smokers find it difficult to truly motivate themselves to quit. Sure, most smokers have many moments of reflection where they despise themselves for smoking and question whether or not what they are doing to their health is really worth it, but few are able to hold on to a true sense of motivation that can be turned into successful smoking cessation. There’s a huge difference between self deprecation every once in a while due to regretting being a smoker and gaining motivation on a profound level – a source of motivation that pushes the smoker over the edge and causes them to do whatever it takes to quit.

The video below helps to motivate smokers to quit once and for all by visually demonstrating the devastating effects of smoking to one’s health. Hopefully, by watching this stop smoking video you will be able to gain a new source of motivation to finally quit cigarettes. No, this video isn’t going to take care of all the motivation and willpower you need in order to quit by itself, but it should help to get you thinking about your habit and what you want to do about your habit.

Watch The Stop Smoking Video Right Below

Personally, I think the video does a good job of demonstrating what you are actually doing to your lungs each time you take a puff of a cigarette. Another thing is that the video is what it is. This isn’t some ridiculous ridiculous anti-smoking ad you see all too often these days. This video is the real deal. If you’re a smoker then all you need to do is get yourself a napkin and try it out yourself. You’ll see the same results. You really don’t even need to go this far to realize that this video is the truth. If you look at the filter of your cigarette you’ll see that it is pretty darn brown by the end of your smoke…and this is only a fraction of what you’ve collected in your lungs. All of that tar, and in most cases a ton of different harmful chemicals, is being poured into your lungs with each and every puff. Again, this video does a great job of demonstrating that. Hopefully you take this video to heart and use it as fodder to get yourself motivated to finally give it your all when it comes to putting down the cigarette for good.

In order to stop smoking many people need to look to motivational reasons. Reasons to stop smoking often give a smoker encouragement to quit smoking and help them realize what smoking is actually doing to them in terms of negative side effects. There really isn’t a shortage to reasons for quitting as there are literally and endless amount. You’ve got an added risk of heart disease, bad breath, increased risk of lung cancer, and so on. With that said, it usually takes a very specific reason in order for a smoker to find importance in whatever reason it is. Not all reasons are going to do it for all smokers.

A reason for quitting smoking that I’d like to talk about today is that of horribly stained fingers. Stained fingers is just one of the many negative physical side effects of regular smoking. It is something that is caused by prolonged cigarette addiction and is something that isn’t desirable in the slightest. Believe me, I speak from first hand experience. The look of cigarette stained fingers is absolutely disgusting. When I first saw the effect on a smoker I know I was literally shocked. I’m pretty sure I even yelled out some profanities. Stained fingers caused by cigarette smoking stick out like a sore thumb and it isn’t a good kind of sore thumb if there every was such a thing. The sad thing about this physical side effect is that it doesn’t take long for it to pop up on your fingers. Yes, it is caused by prolonged usage. But, prolonged usage can be as little as a few years of smoking. That is all it takes in some cases for stains on your fingers to become noticeable. A main determinant in the time it takes for your fingers to become stained from cigarette smoking is the amount of cigarettes that you smoke.

I’m not going to sit here and lie to you telling you that your fingers can become stained by smoking just a few cigarettes. What I will tell you, though, is that stained fingers are a very real threat to you if you are someone who smokes a sizable amount of cigarettes each and every day. I’d also like to make it clear to you that for most smokers, there addiction only gets worse as time goes on. You might only be smoking occasionally today but in a few years time you could very well be smoking a pack a day. This is something that is very dependent on you and your ability to control your addiction but it is something worth considering all the same.

No, stained fingers aren’t a harm to your health. No, stained fingers aren’t one of the most convincing reasons to quit smoking. However, this reason to quit is definitely worth thinking about. Having stained fingers is going to be incredibly embarrassing and incredibly annoying. But aside from that it makes you wonder, “If cigarette smoking is doing this to my fingers, then what the heck is it doing to my lungs (insert any important body part/function)?”.

Ok, you aren’t literally a slave if you are a smoker of the dirty cigarette. However, if we are considering things on a metaphorical level then you are. If you are a cigarette smoker, a true smoker, then you are technically a slave to the cigarette. Think about that one for a second. Now, the point of this article isn’t to poke fun at you or make you feel like crap. Rather, the point of this article is to get you thinking about your addiction to cigarettes in a way that could potentially give you that extra push to quit. So, as I was saying, if you are a smoker smoking day in a day out then you really are slave.

Addiction Is A Loss Of Self And Cigarettes Are Your Ruler

At the core, addiction to cigarettes is a one sided battle. If you are truly addicted to cigarettes then you are always needing that next cigarette. You find yourself sitting in your car, in your home, at work craving a cigarette. You are always craving a cigarette. Now tell me, how does it feel when you think of smoking this way? I probably makes you feel like crap, right? The thing is that it doesn’t have to be like this. You don’t have to always need more and more and more cigarettes. You don’t have to continuously harm your health. You don’t always have to looked down upon (unfortunately, non-smokers tend show less respect for their smoking couterparts…I don’t agree with this but it doesn’t change anything). Honestly, you don’t have to continue to smoke. Smoking is not a necessary part of what makes you, you.

You can stop smoking. And if you don’t think you can stop smoking then you never will stop smoking. This isn’t motivational garbage (well, it is supposed to motivational but it isn’t garbage), this is the truth. If you can’t convince yourself that you can quit smoking then how the hell do you believe your body to believe you can? If you aren’t committed to your decision from the beginning and you don’t believe and yourself then you are going to get smacked silly by your mind and body. First, your body is going to smack you silly when you start to feel the effects of physical withdrawal and you aren’t ready for it. And second, your mind is going to smack you silly when you are going to need to be mentally tough through the cravings and withdrawal.

This is just how it goes. If you can’t get yourself hyped up and see just how much you want to quit, then it isn’t worth attempting at all. A half-assed attempt at quitting smoking mine as well be smoking a pack because it sure as hell won’t get you anywhere. The best smoking aid, stop smoking program, whatever can’t get you to stop smoking if you aren’t truly committed yourself. So, if you want a good reason to quit then keep on reminding yourself that you are a slave to the cigarette because you really are if you are a smoker. Keep this thought in your mind, commit to quitting smoking, believe in yourself, and never look back. This is the way to quit smoking. Yes, it will be hard, very hard, but if you really want it then you can get it.
